Here is the beautiful cover for my new novel, The Lost Valley, which came out on August 27th. It follows the lives and loves of the Abbott family, introduced in my last book, Fortune’s Son. The Lost Valley is a sweeping saga of ambition, betrayal and dangerous love.
Tasmania, 1929: Ten-year-old-twins, Tom and Harry Abbott, are orphaned by a tragedy that shocks Hobart society. They find sanctuary with their reclusive grandmother, growing up in the remote and rugged Binburra ranges – a place where kind-hearted Tom discovers a love of the wild, Harry nurses a growing resentment towards his brother and where the mountains hold secrets that will transform both their lives.
The chaos of World War II divides the brothers, and their passion for two very different women fuels a deadly rivalry. Can Tom and Harry survive to heal their rift? And what will happen when Binburra finally reveals its astonishing secrets?
From Tasmania’s highlands to the Battle of Britain, and all the way to the golden age of Hollywood, The Lost Valley is a lush family saga about two brothers whose fates are entwined with the land and the women they love.

Thank you so much Peter. I appreciate the encouragement! A sequel, ‘The Memory Tree’, will be out next year
I’ve read Fortunes Son and Lost Valley and really enjoyed them. I was sorry when I finished the second one. Hopefully there will be a third in the series.
Thank you, Graham, for your kind words! There is a third book – The Memory Tree. I’m actually editing it now. It’s a contemporary novel, telling of the Abbott family in the present day. It will be out in September.
I have now read Lost Valley and Fortunes Son….
What can I say?
I wasabsolutely captivated.I could not put either of them down…About all I did was feed my husband.!
I have always been fascinated by The Australia’s….wish I could visit but it is a long way from Canada where I live.
Keep writing as I keep reading.
Oh wow – thank you so much Joan! Writers spend so much time alone in their own heads, that it’s easy to forget that there are real life readers out there. I’m thrilled you enjoyed my books. The third in the Tasmanian trilogy, The Memory Tree, is coming out in September. I’m actually editing it right now. It’s a contemporary novel, telling of the Abbott family in the present day. Happy reading and thanks again 🙂
I just finished reading “The Lost Valley” and loved it! It was available via Amazon BookBub, and I chose it because I live on Lost Valley Drive! I knew nothing of the author or premise of the book and was more than pleasantly surprised by the story!!! Well done! I look forward to reading more of your works!
Ha ha – how fortuitous for me that you live where you do Maureen 🙂 So glad you enjoyed the book. I have a free BookBub on the 24th April with another book, Currawong Creek, if you’re intersted. Many thanks again for your kind words 🙂
